I need a 2nd toilet and the only available place to put one is in the basement. Anyone have any comments, suggestions, or problems?

My friend has one in his basement. They can be pricey, but his seems to work very well. I thought it was a great product.

Saniflo makes a macerating toilet system that does not use gravity. The system is plugged into an electrical outlet. Once flushed the flushed items are sent to a Macerating unit that grinds everythng up. The fine ground up substance is then pumped by the system through 3/4" pipe toward your existing sewer line. Depending on which system that you use. The materials can be pump up 15 feet and or out 150 feet toward your existing sewer connections. The adavantage to such a system is the extreme labor savings involved in the installation. The system can also be connected to a sink and a shower thus rounding out a complete bathroom system. This product can be very useful in the application of putting bathrooms in basements, garages, or even in a small bathroom out by the pool. The Saniflo systems can be found in Plumbing Whole businesses. If they they do not have them in stock, they most ceratinly can order them for you.

Do you mean the portable camping type? You'd have to empty it out in your regular toilet if it's the kind I'm imagining, the kind that sit in a camper. I'd look for a more permanent solution from a plumber...I'm not sure I know what a Pump up toilet is. Or do you mean one that has to flush uphill?

The Saniflo macerating toilet works well. You tie the discharge and vent lines into your existing lines. You can check them out on their website.
