Try their "memory upgrade advisor" That'll tell you which memory type ypu're pc will take.
Virtual memory problem though? Just try setting it to a "system managed size" (winxp) or try increasing pagefile size on previous windows versions.

You need DDR PC3200. How much is in your computer now? Check out this site: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Dimension+3000
You dont have to buy from them, but they'll give you some good info. It's best to install in pairs (like 2 512mb sticks), but not required on modern computers.
I would get 512mb (crucial had it for under $40, not bad). Its not too hard to install, but you'll need to open your computer up.

I didn't think low virtual memory actually had anything to do with the size of your PC's memory? Can't you adjust a setting somewhere to increase the amount of virtual memory?

virtual memory is not your ram. go into the control panel and clean up your temporary files and increase the amount of space the computer is allowed to use as virtual memory.

Actually it sounds if you're getting low virtual memory messages, it's not your RAM, it sounds like a virus because computers now-a-days have plenty of RAM to run what they need and enough hard drive space to help out. I recommend scanning for viruses first and if that doesn't help, go find your RAM type somewhere and buy it, I helped out by looking up your type of RAM, you'll need ...
