when you talk about footballers wages they are always compared to nurses,
i sympathize with nurses and think that they are getting completely ripped off and are worth alot more money than they are paid
however, a nurse doesnt have the capability to earn her "company" millions of pounds in a year,
when a top club pays a group of players millions of pounds each a year it is because the players have the skills, by winning tournaments etc, to earn the club vast amounts of prize money hense if a footballer earned £100,000 a year but helped his club earn £100,000,000 in a season through prize money, shirt sales etc he would be considerabley underpaid

I've never heard people moan about this. I do believe that most top rated footballers are overpaid and that nurses are underpaid. I've spent time in hospital on a number of occasions and have found nurses are wonderful people that earn every penny they get. And as for footballers' wages, do the women players get the same sort of pay? I very much doubt this, yet they are every bit as entertaining as the men. More attractive too. Some footballers' wage structures are obscene, David Beckham comes to mind straight away. I think it's time there was a little more parity in wages, determined by what a person does for a living. In my opinion, nurses are worth their weight in gold.

Wages have been escalating in the past few years. The monies paid to the players are ridiculous. And the fans get ripped off. You work for hard earned crash so you can get a ticket to a stadium to watch your favorite team only see a player give a halfarsed performance. You realize that the player's 1 week salary is equivalent to your 1 year salary.
So how will you feel.
Salary cap is the solution.

Maybe because they earn more in a week than many do in a year. Playing a sport they enjoy as opposed to doing the 9-5 grind we need to do to make ends meet. A minority of them do have a very special gift (think Ronaldo, Eusabio, Pele, Maradona, Henry etc) the rest are very good but at the same level as each other and I don't think should be getting 30-100k a week for playing the game they love.

Because they forget that they are offered them by Chairmen and teams that have got more money than sense! If everyone set a salary cap appropriate to each Division or level of play then there could be no argument. But ultimately, although nurses are more deserving, if your boss offered to pay you your current annual salary weekly would you say no?
Thought not!

The problem with footballers wages is that they are getting obscene , and it is not the money coming through the turnstiles that pays them but TV money and what happens when TV companies start squeezing and the revenue drops more bankrupt clubs. There should be a salary cap across the board.

nobody is worth to get paid like 50 toushand to 130 thousand pound a WEEK ok yes they are good careers short but that does not stop them from becoming real people when they retire and get proper 9 - 5 jobs like us . if they did not get paid as much ticket pricies could come down they are all just greedy and over paid no other sport pays as much as football

I think it's because people who dont care about football, compare the wages the players get, to the wages that people like nurses get....and they dont measure up...I'm not a nurse, but I think they should get more than footballers!

when i see grown-men (do they realise how stupid they look?) crying over their team losing a match,
i can see exactly where you're coming from.
they b!tch about the wages when/if their input fails their beloved team,
then when they score a goal, they declare they're worth every penny of their extravagant wages!
i think common-sense left grown men when they started paying footballers millions.
