Found in areas without deep water tables. New Orleans and Key West have such sites. All over Florida and Louisiana, in fact. Makes for a beautiful cemetery since the coffins are elevated, usually encased in stone or cement. Looks like a housing project for the dead.

Some of my family is from New Orleans and I live in Louisiana; the point is New Orleans holds some grave yards above ground.

I know New Orleans does that. I am unsure what your question actually is. There are mausoleums in practically every cemetary you can go to. They just aren't as prevalent.

Welcome to New Orleans. The water table was such that if you dug down you hit water. Therefore everyone was buried in the crypts above ground.
