The Lord of the Rings trilogy is better. For some reason, I can't get into the Harry Potter films. :)

The Lord of the Rings is better. It is a more complete work of imagination, in that Middle Earth stand as a complete creation; the language, history, mythology and poetry owe nothing to our modern world. I like the Harry Potter books but the whole concept lacks the depth and bite of the LOTR,and the books have only attained their global popularity since the movies were released.

I'm 43 and I've been with my children to see all the Harry Potter films. I love them and I think I'm more excited than they are about the new one.
I just couldn't understand or get into Lord of the Rings.

No question, Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson did an amazing job of capturing the look and feel of middle earth, and he was much truer to the story than the HP films.
