I'd be lying if I said I didn't pay attention to it.
I spend quite a bit of time answering questions in fire protection and safety because that's my area of expertise.
I think having a fair number of people select your answer gives you a pretty good feeling. I have to admit, I get a tiny little rush every time it happens. I suppose that's why this site is so addicting!
I have found having a higher percentage adds a tiny bit of credibility to your answers when answering technical stuff, but means little or nothing when answering "just for fun" questions.
All that being said, I like what "Top of the Line" and "Country girl" had to say! I'd answer on this site no matter what my percentage is, because I don't answer just to get "best answer", I mainly answer just to help.

No I don't come here for points or precentage of best answers. I hope that my life experience may help me answer some serious questions for those seeking answers. I appreciate when an asker chooses my answer as best because then I know I have helped them in a small way to find a solution. I also just enjoy giving an occasional silly answer to some of the silly questions asked just for fun.

Hey it is what it is. If people like my answer then they will reward me with the best asnwer and if not then oh well. This site is meant to be for fun and to kill some time as well. And i like to come here to laern about different things and if I have a serious question as well. That's what Yahoo Answers is meant for plus if I can help anybody out as well then hey I feel that I have made a difference.

If I can't offer the best answer, then it's my goal to have the funniest. With that being said (and since this is not likely the best answer)...
Two muffins are baking in an oven at 350 degrees. One of them says, "Whew! It sure is hot in here!"
And the other one goes "Oh my God! A talking muffin!!"

I did for a while, but I rarely get best answers... I try most of the time to give either a real answer or a funny answer... about 20% of the time i just give a moderate answer for the points... star to you!

I care deeply because one of my Y! friends is battling with me over who has more points and I've been on here much longer than she has, but because she bugs everyone into giving her best answer points, she's already a level above me...and reminds me about it every 15 minutes.
