Uhh...what's the gift?
Telekinesis? Yeah, leave it on the shelf.
Healing? Singing? Clairvoyance? Use it, already.

The problem with those gifted and talented is not knowing where they stand in the spectrum of how much talent they truly have. For example, someone who makes it all the way to Triple A minor league baseball is gifted. Not many, maybe 1 in 10,000, gets that far in baseball. Yet the minor league player is not as gifted as those who play in the major league. So if you are going to nuture and use your talent, you have to realize how much talent you have compared to those who also have talent. It will just save yourself a lot of time and frustration competing against those more talented.

Personally, I don't place much faith in simplistic value judgments of 'right' or 'wrong'....too shallow of an answer, indicative of too little investigation of the question (except, of course, in the most extreme instances like rape or child abuse and such)
Anyway....
Any such gift is something that has been bestowed upon the recipient (a blessing, if you will) To nurture and develop it is the recipient's choice, no one else's....In most cases, however, if there truly exists a 'gift', then the individual psyche will rebel against a denial of any such gift and 'demand' that it be developed
As for me, I finally chose to embrace and develop my own...Finally stopped fighting myself and trying to force myself into a smaller container....And I've never felt better!!!!!!!!
So...
I made my choice....everyone else must necessarily make their own choice.

If you're the only one with this gift or talent and it could benefit,(benefit being good based off of ethical reasons), 2+ people, then it would be a shame to have that talent wasted.

No. It's yours. Do with it as you will. It's called freewill.
If I utilized every gift I genuinely had, then the world would be in rubble today.
People should be happy I restrained when they tried to persuade me otherwise.

It is not "wrong" but I think that you will feel that something is missing from your life if you don't utilize it. I agree with the quote below. After a five year break from writing, I started again and have not stopped since. That was in 2004. I absolutely love writing and believe that it is my talent and my gift. Ok.....here's the quote.

"A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What one can be, one must be." -
-- Abraham Maslow

You have read the story in the bible about talents (which were pieces of money). It was supposed to teach you something. The principle is the same.

One should always utilize gifts and talent, but if you "nuture" it you may never have children.

No, not wrong. Just frustrating, either now or later, that you didn't spend more time indulging yourself by pursuing it.
Let go of the guilt idea.
