They do happen in real life, but not often. For every movie there has to be a bold act; therefore every one of the thousands of known movies, there are known bold acts.
Its kind of sad that no one seems to observe the actions of policemen, firemen, and army soldiers any more, and to not associate what they do as a "bold act."

would a bold act involve driving against oncoming traffic at 90 miles an hour with one hand on the wheel and one hand holding a m16a2 assult rifle out of the window shooting at some crazy bad guys?
if it does, i did that all last weekend.

Because certain people (me being one of them) are to chicken to do them and after the event the "bold action" would have taken place, we would think about what wouldv'e happened if we DID do the "bold action".

I do sometimes, depending on which bold acts we are talking here. I know a lot of characters...
Or, maybe because life is, well, boring.

Most movie circumstances are unreal and those actions can be dangerous. Depending on what circumstances.

In the movies, the hero always gets his way, he always wins no matter what he does, bold or sissy.
