I have an old honda del sol, ive never had any problems with it what so ever, it had 42k miles on it, and the other day i was driving on some back roads and out of no where smoke started pouring in from the ac so i turned the ac off and pulled over on the side of the road, i then tried to turn the car off but it wouldnt turn off but the key would come out, so i started walking over to someones house so i could call for help, right before i started knocking on the door i looked back at the car and there was tons and tons of thick black smoke billowing out of the exhaust and then all at once the entire car exploded into about an18 or 20 foot fireball, so the firederpartment had to come and put it out and stuff, the car is completely destroyed, do yall have any idea of what may have happened?

Electrical problems or sever over-heating would be my guess. Either that or you just made it up, and watch too many movies! lol

Sounds like the car engine got hot so when you pulled out the key it continued to run or "diesel" because of hot spots in the engine combustion chamber. If a valve or valves were bad and the fuel kept being injected and did not fire in a cylinder or cylinders the fuel would build up in the exhaust manifold to a point where it exploded. End of car!

Have you checked with the manufacturer for any safety recalls or similar incidents? A couple of years ago my Dodge Stratus caught on fire, luckily the fire department got there before it could explode. About six months later I got a safety recall notice in the mail. It said that these cars had been catching on fire due to a high pressure power steering hose. I would check with the company, if you haven't already. Good Luck, I know that really sucks!!!

probably a short in the electrical system started the fire, and it just continued to burn the combustible material.
