To the first poster: When Trent Lott made the same sort of comments to Strom Thurmond, the usual media double standard kicked in. Lott was hounded from his position as Senate Majority Leader.

To the third poster: Everyone in Nazi Germany was a Nazi or a Nazi supporter. Do you think those people brag about loving Hitler?

Just because most folks in the South were racist bigots back then is no reason to be proud your mentor was one of them.

Because Bill Clinton is ONLY for Bill & Hillary Clinton.
He behaves differently from Sen. Fulbright ONLY when it provides him with more personal power.

that's like asking someone that likes george washington why they like someone that supports slavery...

it was a different time... granted it wasn't right... but most don't like to speak ill of the dead, even if they had problems...
