I run every morning around the block, and a crow flies really close to my head and tries to attack me. I didnt do anything to it, it doesnt bother anyone else. does anyone know why it does this and how I can stop it before I decide to shoot it?

well thanks for all the answers, Yea well Alot of people run through the area, it just attacks me, My hair is dark brown so thats not the reason. I tried to run the opposite direction and it attacked me on the other side of the street. I cant change my running area because I live in a bad neighborhood where I will get picked up and taken to Mexico if I run anywhere else( I live 7 miles from the border and theres alot of women getting taken from here) So i dunno..

Change your hair so it looks like something other than a bird's nest.

Get some Cap-Stun pepper spray or some other decent brand.
I can pretty well guarantee that the crow will stop that.
Test the pepper spray on a wall,it should strip paint.
Wait on that dope to come swooping in and let him have it.
If you have a uniform shop in town, find out if the have mace or pepper.
If you can't find it locally, order it.You can get a small or big can and be assured that you can hammer anything that you encounter. That includes dogs and muggers.
If you need to shoot it,then shoot it.You are a human and you are not required to cow-tow to stupid animals.
BTW:The uniform shop will probably have riot sticks.Get one and beat the stuffings out of that crow. After some Cap-Stun and a good beating,I think that it will quit.If it dies, let it die.

Yesterday morning I was walking across an open plaza in downtown Victoria BC and was swarmed by 3 crows...over and over again. No matter which direction I headed in plaza area they kept at me. The flew so close to my head I could feel my hair part. They stayed on me until i left plaza. Then when I walked back across plaza to my car they came after me again. Weird and spooky!

well, there are a couple of things... maybe you are running close to its nest? you might try running on the other side of the street from where it starts bothering you...
do you have 'unusual' hair colors? i dont say this to be stupid or mean or anything else... however, one time i dyed my hair purple and pink and there were these one type of birds that kept 'attacking' me (or so i thought)... well, as my friend (who owns birds) let me know- i had dyed my hair that birds mating colors... embarrassing to say the least... they werent attacking me, they were trying to do a mating flight with my head....
do you have cats? perhaps if the bird is smelling the cats on your clothes, it is percieving you as a threat because he/she thinks you are a big cat and close to its nest...
there are alot of things...birds are odd creatures to me... but for the most part, they are like any other animal... they feel the need to defend their young and their nest is usually the reason they become aggressive...... you say it doesnt bother anyone else... do the other people jog in the same area? do any others own cats? do anyothers have unusual hair colors or styles? it can be so many things.... i wish you well!

Shoot it. I hate crows. Never heard of one attacking a person though. Are you running near it's nest? Gosh, I wouldn't think so...they nest pretty high up in trees don't they? Well, you have my sympathy. I hate crows. They scare away all my pretty finches. They are just mean and nasty. Ugh. Good luck.

Birds, like most animals, are territorial. Somehow, you're infringing on its territory. Maybe it has a nest close by that it's defending. Best thing to do is change your route. It won't attack if you stay off its turf.

You must be too close to a nesting or feeding area. Can you alter your path so you're across the street or running another block entirely? It's hard to reason with a bird-brain so it's best to avoid it.

You are probably running too close to it's nest and it feels threatened. It is displaying natural protection behaviors, and it's nothing personal. I'd pick a new running route for a few months.

I'm not sure if shooting a Crow is legal... you could chalk it up to self-defense, though.
Either way, don't take another route because of some damned animal. If it continues to pester you, kill it.

Decide, shoot it. The bird is displaying area protection, and you cannot stop it short of killing it.You might try running in another area away from the birds territory, so as not to put both of you on a collision course.
