Why do some people take themselves so seriously, in a bad way, like they are stuck on themself?

Question

I am not a technical kind of person and have never taken myself super seriously but i still like respect and or things to get done. I have people in my life who only think of their stuff and themselves. Especially the one's who are business people or something. Why do so many people it seems ( in my life and in the world) to have that attitude about themselves?
I'm talking about the ones who are politically correct all the time and hate being wrong and you can't even approach or talk to them if it isn't GOOD enough for them.

any ideas?
I am just trying to figure out our society and who's in it?
I could be writing about ANYONE really . . . not just business people . . . ANYONE

I am not going to be hypocritical, but in some ways I think I am one of those people, or at least I use to be.... I some times think if it is not what I want to hear, then I don't want to hear it. I know I am a stubborn person, and I do try and change the way I am when others approach me with something I don't want to hear. I think I am right all the time, and it burries me when I think I am right and someone tries to prove me wrong. I think it is the environment that we as people grew up in and are adapted to. I believe in some ways it is an emotional disorder, because we try and handle it the correct way, but we end up thinking someone else's correct way is the wrong way. It is a way of life for many people. It can be changed, but it takes a whole lot the change someone who is truly appicted by their own righteosness.

I have to agree with Joseph Capone Sr, due to his experience, there's no other way of explaining it unless you yourself are those people. I get mixed emotions when I see people like that , reason is not all are the same. When they express their stuff and themselves, is what I think is that they worked hard at achieving their goals in getting their stuff and when they show that, it means they are proud of what they accomplished and it's not wrong to do so, but on the other hand if they are stuck up or rude, always criticizing you then they have issues, something trigger them not to trust no one but themselves and that they will only associate with people like that.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:10-12

Jesus said these are signs before the end. Self righteousness, uncaring, unloving, seekers of pleasure, high minded.

2 Peter 2:10-17
