thsi is so annoying, I'm aboslutely sure by now I AM NOT ready for a tampon but we're going to the water tomorrow and I was so happy because I miss swimming, but then my stupid period came a week early and I'm about to cry because I was so happy. Is there anyone I can do?

Nope. If you are going to go swimming you'll have to use a tampon.

No, there's nothing you can do to stop it (even birth control wouldn't stop it once it's here.) Some women don't flow when they are in the water, but it's not a chance I'd want to take. I'm not sure what your objection is to tampons; there's no age limit and some girls use them from their very first period. It takes a little practice to get the hang of inserting them, but once it's in, you can't feel it at all and you don't have to miss out on swimming.

It's like everyone else has said...you can't stop your period. And who told you that birth control would? Birth control helps regulate your period, but it definitely doesn't stop it.

I'm not going to tell you to suck it up and wear a tampon. If you're not ready, you're not ready. But that's pretty much your only option if you want to swim while you're on your period.

If you think you want to try tampons, then see if you can find some that are slim (intended for teens and first-timers). And I'd definitely reccommend ones with plastic, not cardboard applicators. They're just more comortable to me. Take things slow, don't rush. And stand up, don't sit down. It's easier that way for me, at least.

Good luck, either way.

There is no reason not to be ready for a tampon. They aren't painful at all to insert or wear. You cannot just stop your period from coming, I'm sorry, without the use of the pill, and even then, it doesn't happen right away.

No there is nothing you can do. Why do you think you aren't ready for a tampon? Tampons are easy to use and work great and any age can use one. If you don't want to use a tampon you can see if your store handles menstrual cups to use but those would be a bigger hassle in my opinion than just using a tampon.

There is some new pill that I think stops it or something my aunt was telling my cousin about it. I don't know the name I am so sorry....
