For 8th grade graduation, me and my siblings all get to pick out a $150 gift. When my bro graduated, he got a fancy tennis racket. Well, I asked for a Donney and Burke purse. Not one of those small ones, like a nicer one that I'll use often. But my parents don't want me to get that!! They think it's crazy to spend that kind of money on a purse, but I mean, it's $150 and I'll use it right?! They suggested I get a knock off from the French market, but if I wanted a knock off I would just buy it myself, since those are only like $30. How can I convince my parents to get me a real one? Or is there a place where I can get a real one that's cheaper? I saw a Donney and Bourke purse at TJ Maxx once, but I couldn't tell if it was a knock off or real. Anyone know if they sell real designer purses there or knock offs?

No offense, but what's the big idea about this specific purse that is so important? But if your parents are un willing to pay ( I surly would be) then ask you parents and everybody else that all you want for your graduation is money, maybe with all the collected money that everybody gives will be enough to pay for it, either that help pay for it, maybe they will be more willing.

Personally, I think the amount of money your parents are offering is quite generous. I didn't get anything when I was promoted to 9th grade. I was just going from one grade to another, even if it was to a different shcool. (I didn't even get $150 worth of presents from my parents when I was graduated from high school. However, what they did give me (probably under $50, was very generous and very meaningful.) That's a lot of money, especially for parents who might both be working, paying bills, raising at least three kids, etc.
Ask your parents why they're objecting your choice. Personally, I'm not keen on designer anything. Why would somebody want to pay that much to give free advertising for a millionaire? (There's also the whole leather thing about purses, too.) As for "only $30", I still think that's a lot of money for one purse, or any clothing for that matter. Yet, I didn't have $30 to just spend when I was 13/14, either. I'm 30 years old and I don't just have $30 to drop on something frivilous like that. (I don't really even use a wallet. I have my old college ID holder that holds my cards, my cash and my license. I use my pocket for change. I do have a wallet style purse that I've had for maybe ten years and got at Goodwill for around $5. It's functional.)
Overall, though, talk to your parents and ask them why. Heck, invest some of the money. When I was sixteen my father started to buy me shares of Wendy's (the fast food chain; The irony is that I think most fast food places are pure evil). Well, since then, they bought Tim Horton's which split from them last year. I've gotten a couple of divedent checks from Tim Horton's ("only" aobout $10 worth, but it's "free" money). While I don't eat donuts often, they're one of two palces I'll go. (The other is in a small, private resort town my husband and I often go to in the summer for a week.) Besides, if they're going to keep giving me money, I'll take it. Bottom line is that between the two companies, I have about $1,000 worth of stock. Not bad considering the original five or six shares my father and I bought (I also bought some using gift money and work money) probably cost around $100.
Anyway, I hope my rambling has helped.

Try Dillards. Your parents probably don't want you to get one because they think you wont appreciate it. Whenever I buy myself designer purses I always tell myself that I will wear it for the next year. Convince them that you will wear it for the next year at least. Also, tell them you plan to pick out a classy one that isn't trendy; therefore, you can wear it in different seasons. If you got the D&B, you wouldn't be shopping for other purses in the next year. Consider it an investment, something that you will keep and wear for a very long time. And because the gift is your choice, tell them that it is what you ultimately want. Because it is so expensive, you will take better care of it than any other purses. At least you're not asking for a Prada, a Gucci, or a Chanel. They are upwards of at least $300 to thousands. If you still can't convince them, ask them about a Coach. They are about the same price ranges. Moreover, good quality leather purses at department stores cost at least $60.

If its from Tj Maxx, Marshalls, or Ross it's a real product but it didn't meet up to the high standards of the company. It usually some very minor visual defect.

they're real but do u really like the ones at TJ Maxx is the question.
my cousin wanted a cartilage piercing once. she wrote her parents a letter asking for it and that she'll nevr ask for anything again and some other stuff, blah, blah, blah. her mom, my aunt, told me about this. the letter convinced her parents.
so im saying that you could write a meaningful letter or w/e and it could work.
really sorry if this dusnt help! i think it will tho.
