I am planning on getting one cause my daughter got a program to make dvd movies from pictures and stuff saved on our computer but we only have a cd burner and I didn't realize we'd need something seperate. I would also like to be able to have someone to ask along the way any wuestions needed. Anyone willing? thanks.

Internal drives are cheaper (Well done guys) but if you are not comfortable opening the PC, go with USB.

What to do with it ?

install the software drivers it comes with, and then connect it, the computer now has a DVD burner facility

Remember to buy some blank discs when you get the drive too.

Run the "photo to DVD" program you have, and once the project is ready, use it's "Burn" function to make the DVD, just point it at the new drive.

have fun

Use your dvd burner just like your cd burner. Go with the external writer. After you figure in the time to unplug everything, drag it up to a shop, wait until it's installed, drag it home, try to remember what wire went where..it'll add up to the cost of the external writer that you just unwrap, plug in and start burning. Good luck... R.

I totally agree with the first answerer, the internal DVD burners are cheaper and they do the job as well as the external ones. But of course, the choice is yours.
