I personally don't like the DH rule, but if there ever was a time to use it, it would be the All-Star game. This is where we see the best pitchers against the best hitters. I really don't care to watch an AL pitcher who hasn't hit all year take 3 lame swings at the ball. I know they are usually pinch-hit for, but not always. For example, a big 1st or 2nd inning, they would leave the starter in so that he wouldn't just be pitching one inning.

I am not a fan of the DH.
but if it must be in MLB, then I definitely want to see it in the All-Star game! even if it is in an NL park.
I love pitchers' duels just as much as offensive filled games like the 20-14 game yesterday Twins vs. White Sox... but since the al star game will never be a pitchers' duel... why not see more offense?

Without a doubt, the DH should be used in the All-Star Game. The fans want to see the best pitching against the best hitting.

yes, pitchers shouldnt hit in an all star game, big papi would be a DH and the AL could have another 1st basemen start instead of a pitcher taking an at-bat

that's an incredible thought- the final factor any supervisor needs is to deliver a participant returned to his team harm. no possible pay to video exhibit the pitchers hit. that's an incredible thank you to get each and every of the gamers in the pastime, it is particularly the factor to this pastime, it is an exhibition. they could bypass returned to alternating residing house container benefit in the international sequence, or arise with a greater proper thank you to ensure it than the end results of the All celeb pastime (superb typical season checklist works for different activities). i do no longer understand if we are going to ever see the NL undertake the DH finished time. If it occurs, it may be fairly a techniques down the line.

No, they shouldn't use it in any games. I never liked the DH for the same reasons everyone else doesn't.
And Michael M, please stop trying to change baseball lingo. It's called a Designated Hitter, not a Designated Batter, regardless of your reasoning. Should we start saying fair pole, fair line, pinch batter, flew out, run and hit, and RsBI?
Former announcer Curt Gowdy once tried it with "run and hit," but it obviously never caught on. Traditions rule.

If it's an AL ballpark,(ex. Angel stadium) there wouldbe a DH rule, but since their playing in a NL ballpark the pitchers bat.

Absolutely. No one goes to an all-star game to see pitchers hit.

The only time it should be used in an all star game is if it's in an AL park.

To settle the question about the name, the original title was "Designated Pinch Hitter". It was shortened to just Designated Hitter to differentiate between that and a normal pinch hitter.

i think the only time the DH should be used is in the all-star game and spring training so hitters can get more at-bats and be looked at. i dont think the american league should use the DH in the regular season though
