As for music SGT. PEPPERS as for sales it would be Pink Floyd dark side of the moon over 20 years on the billboards top 200.
I think the most successful demo tape was Ugly Kid Joe the record company released the demo tape as a teaser for the the new album. They knew the hairband sound was coming to an end so lets make a few bucks on this. It went on to be platinum!

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John;
"Abbey Road" by The Beatles;
"Powerslave" by Iron Maiden;
"Master of Puppets" by Metallica;
"Dark Side Of The Moon" by Pink Floyd.
Hmm, tough call.

Paul Simon - Graceland.
He got into lots of trouble for using black musicians, when apartheid was rampant in South Africa.
A brave move, and a brilliant record.
