No the police won't get involved. It is technically breach of contract, which is civil, not criminal. Your best bet is to email Ebay, and let them know what has happened. Also use the ratings system to negatively score the person.

No. You need to contact ebay and let them know there has been a non paying bidder. If it has been more than 7 days since the auction ended this is how you would do this. Then if you do not get payment or resolution withing another 3 days with this option you can relist your item at no extra charge to sell it again. You can do all of this online with Ebay. I too have ebay stuff I sell all the time and HATE it when people just have to have the item and then don't pay. Makes EBay look bad as well as a lot of people who buy and sell on EBay and that is just not true. There always has to be one in every crowd though, it seems. Hang in there and list it as a non paying bidder item with EBay. Then you can relist and get an honest person to buy it!

Police don't usually get involved in civil matters and one would assume this is a civil matter of not paying a debt, unless there has been some type of criminal tactics, such as the pond filter was stolen and it belonged to someone else and you were selling it illegally. Other than that you have to rely on Paypal, or Ebay to get your money for you. They are pretty good at that anyway if you keep hassling them.

unlikely unless theyve paid with a cheque thats bounced or a cheque / credit card thats stolen / forged. If youve sent it without receiving the payment youve just learned a valuable and expensive lesson which ive never had to learn as I dont send anything until ive had the payment. If youve not posted it give them 10 days after the end of auction date and then file a non-paying bidder alert and relist the item, hopefully a more conscientious ebayer will buy it this time

No. If you haven't sent the filter out, you have lost nothing. If you did send it without getting paid first - shame on you.

If you still have the filter and you have waited a reasonable amount of time for payment (I give 14 days), then notify Ebay that the buyer didn't send payment and just relist it.

You can then tag the buyer so others won't do business with him.

No! the police cant help.
You need to contact ebay through your "my Ebay" bit and report them thats all you can do. Chances are they arnt gona pay you as they may of decided against buying it.
Q:How long has it been since the bidding ended? Have you had any communication from the buyer?
Why dont you email them through the ebay system and ask if they still want the item and when are they goning to pay.

No- please don't tell me you sent the goods before you got the money? If you haven't sent the goods its no problem- you just leave negative feedback and relist it. If you sent the goods then you were a very silly girl- ebay may or may not get involved but they advise you always get the money first. If you have sent the goods and not received payment you can go through the small claims court but it will cost you £30- and you can get it back if you can get the person to admit to having received the goods- but you weren't that daft were you?

after 7 days you can file an unpaid item dispute with ebay, do it on the 7th day if you have tried to contact them and had no reply...

http://rebulk.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?CreateDispute&LineId=Transactions.

you can also relist the item but i think it is better to wait a bit longer as i have had people not pay until they get the dispute sent to them and then they do.
even though it is a hassle it is still better than the hassle of relisting...

I shouldn't think so! Ebay have a complaints procedure though. Why did you send it before they paid?
