Should it be mounted on a mat or framed? Or should it just be the doily alone? The rule book didn't have any guidelines for display.

Don't frame it. They usually have tables set up but bring something dark to lay under it to show it off a bit. Like constuction paper or something. Good Luck!

Make sure it is in best conditions. Well ironed, or stretched, whatever is best for your kind of lace.

If you bring it in you can keep it in a folder, if you send it in, you might have to stitch it to a piece of cardboard to keep it in perfect condition.
I am told that white bobbin lace is often displayed on a blue background.

Use a few stitches, (making big steps at the back) and put in a note that the jury is welcome to take it off the cardboard if wanted.

My friend who often sends lace in for competitions always sends hers stitched to a cardboard or foam backing.
It seems the norm for international lace competitions.

I think they will display it for you. They will probably need to examine it, so don't frame it or anything.
