As to parents, in my younger years it wasn't my parents that did discipline , so it was generally a side lecture by my grandmother about how bad my mother was and that I had bad blood or a beating from a uncle that seem to get some kind of enjoyment on seeing how much pain he could inflict, I learned that if I took it and didn't cry that he'd stop quicker. Not discipline, it was abuse . But I'm 60 now and back then Adults were always right. And the media didn't tell you it was wrong.

I thank my mom and dad for raising me in a Christian and so disciplined home. "Spare the rod, spoil the child" and anyone who thinks differently shouldn't have kids. There is a vast difference in disciplining and beating and only the truly ignorant can't identify that difference. Unfortunately, the ignorant can (and do) still breed !
I got spanked with a belt when warranted and if I back-talked or mouthed-off, I got backhanded and yes I deserved each and every one and learned from them.
I don't have kids myself, but now as an adult, I understand when my mom and dad explained to me as a kid, that doing what they did truly did hurt them more than it did me.

My parents never were lenient, there was Strict NO, also little bit of Spanking too, I deserved them, My Mom cries in the Kitchen when she spanks me.
My Mom now says if i hadn't been strict those days you wouldn't have been so successful in your life. I really owe a lot to my parents, I have seen many parents hardly taking care of their children.

I got grounded, sent to a corner, and spanked with a belt. A couple of times I got a kitchen extension cord.

I don't remember- but my parents say that they rarely needed to discipline me and now they don't even worry!

A spanking and being sent to my room until dinner. Occasionally grounding for a couple days to a month. (Which they usually lifted for good behavior) :)

too much yelling and notenough spanking. oddly and fortunatley enough, the spankings were never in anger. she probably thought she'd kill us. but i'm child # 6 and she was really pissed by then. we usually got yelled at. the whoopin' i remember was for flipping off the neighbor kids.

needless to say I rarely touch my son aggressively
just a tiny smack on the bottom if he's nasty
