Its not actually 'MacBook' - its the operating system...

-Mac OS is said to be at least 7 years ahead of Windows.

-The architecture is different, meaning you get no viruse's

-It also means its incredibly stable and secure

-Its simpler to use - the layout is just brilliant - the right of the screen displays the computers drives, while the lovely bar the bottom displays your common applications. When you hover the mouse over it, the icons maginify brilliantly. The latest Mac OS also has an inspired feature that, after 'squeezing your mouse' brings up your Widgets - useful small information boxes, like a Dictionary and Translator

-The computers themselves are technically superior - they take up little space compared to third-part windows based computers.

-For the price of a Windows based computer that had the same power as an Apple bassed computer, the price is actually the same.

-Mac OS is more self aware - it doesn't annoy you with pop up messages or runs unnesscary background tasks. It is designed to be user friendly so that when you start it up, it doesnt even feel like a 'computer'! (unlike windows where it looks less friendly on blue screen errors, booting up etc)

-Mac's are designed asthetically for the future - this is because Apple make their own computers, not some third party company like 'Time'. Therfore, this means you know the computer will work out of the box, and you know what your getting, and you don't get unnesscary software.

-This means Apple use their innovation asthetically - magnetic power cords, silent operation, quiet ocmfy keyboard buttons, one touch button mouse (which includes pressure sensitive spaces on the sides)

But their will always be arguments to which people prefer. The fact however, is that Mac's will always be better.

Unless people used them, they will never know, and thats the only flway in Apples marketing.

But as soon as you've switched one on and realised it takes seconds to boot up, without 'DOS' messages and black screens, you'll never turn back....

(Did I mention Microsofts petty attempts to copy OS Tiger? 'Gadgets' just like Mac's Widgets... yawn...)

When you buy a pc version laptop, I think there is a lot of uncertainty about it's quality. Everyone argues about which brand to get...Dell, Gateway, Toshiba, HP, IBM, Compaq, etc. I've worked with many Dell laptops and they don't all run the same. Some are good, some are bad, some are really bad. Apple is a unique company offering less choices, but that gives you piece of mind knowing it is a great product. The other companies are gambles. I never minded using a PC, but I do love my macbook. I'm doing a lot more with it than I ever did with my mac. It does take a little while to learn it. It's not perfect, i've had to restart it a couple times. I had to do that for my dell all the time.

As for software, most users don't buy new software all the time. So far, any software I wanted has been free for the mac. There's a lot of good programmers out there willing to give you their high quality programs for free. Anybody that creates a pc software wants to charge you for it.

This debate will never end.

This is a PC world not a mac world, although macs are not bad machines. I would just recommend that if you have been using a PC, its not a good idea change to another operating system. Macs currently do not have the many software choices available like PC OS's. You also really get more for you money with a PC. And lets not forget that if you bought a macbook and you wanted to add hardware to it, its virtually impossible to take a mac apart and service it, therefore PC's tend to be easier to deal with.
Let's forget macbooks boot camp system. You may be able to run Window's XP, but how many more years will XP be compatible? And by the way, if you want XP on a mac you have to buy the full edition separately for about $250.00. And if you want "Vista" on a mac you can forget it.
Bottom line: I will say that the PC in my opinion is the better choice, because I currently have both so I can say that.

I don't know why someone is telling you to forget having vista on a macbook. It works! Just take a look at the numerous youtube vids of people showing you how it works!

As for upgrading, its the same like with any other notebook you'll by, you can upgrade your ram, and hard disk.

In OS X, you can use Boot Camp or Parallels to run XP.

That's special and Windows users are soooo jealous!

No malware, bonus!!!

HOTDAMN. I want one.

Get it. Just...get it. You wont regret it.

macs look "pretty" and run MacOSX (NOT windows)... all other laptops run windows and vary in looks... if you're a Windows user and your comfortable with Windows... buy a laptop (not a Macbook) that run Windows
