I am trying to decide which one would be better to live in. Which city has a better job market and housing? Which one has hotter summers and more snow in the winter? How are the public schools?

I lived in Msla for 2 yrs and knew many people from GF as well as visited there during a spring break. Personally, I thought Msla was a much better place to live, mostly b/c GF felt too big & overcrowded (which is funny b/c I'm from Chicago). However, b/c GF is bigger, it might have a better job market. But the standard of living in Msla was a personal better fit, w/its more liberal vibe. When I was in Msla ('04-'06), the snow wasn't bad all. I'd been warned about winters in Big Sky & Bozeman, but Msla was v. mild. Also, it never got really hot, w/low humidity and late summers. I think the schools in Msla are pretty good, too, b/c of the opportunities high schoolers have at the flagship univ. And if you like the environment, the nearby mts and Clark Fork Riv. in Msla are stunning and fun to play in.

A native of the state of the chosen frozen speaks. Missoula is hotter than hell in the summer and in winter the fact it sits in a bowl gives it dirty air; the traffic is murder, jobs are few and far between, and since it is a college town there is an overabundance of cheap labor. Great Falls is hot in the summer and during the winter it is colder than hell, the wind is always blowing. Northwestern Energy company continually raises rates so you need a second job just to pay your heat bill; but there are not many jobs due to montana's poor economy. The eco freaks have made it impossible to log so the forests either burn up or get eaten by bugs while we import lumber from canada. Montana floats on oil but we import it rather than pump any of ours so we can have fifty cent a gallon gas. If you move here all I can say is "Welcome to Hell".
