I would like to add that I'M ONLY 12 SO I CAN'T EXACTLY GET A JOB (unless if you count mowing lawns or selling lemonade or something.) Also, I HAVE A LIFE and I AM GROWN UP!!! BTW- Happy 7-7-07 (even though it's not really a holiday. . .)

iPods are expensive because of the name. it is the most popular MP3 player in the world. also, they're really high quality. I have a 30GB video iPod and it is the best MP3 player i ever had. I'm sorry to hear that you live in poverty : (

Sadly, you're paying for the brand name. =(
Try the Shuffle, it's the least expensive. Remember, you also need a computer with iTunes to run an iPod... although I'm a huge iPod supporter, sometimes it's better to go with a nice inexpensive mp3 player, some sell for as low as 40 bucks nowadays! Oh, and if you want to earn money, maybe you could do odd jobs or chores around the neighbourhood, babysit, maybe look into finding a job at a local store (not sure how old you are), or something? I earned my own money to buy my iPod, it was so incredibly satisfying the day I went to the store and bought it, I was floating on air for a month, haha. I feel your pain, but hang in there... not everyone has one, a bunch of my friends don't, but I know how you feel!
Take care!

supply and demand. Popularity can keep the price of certain items high due to the fact that companies know people will pay pay pay. Look at all the idiots that stood in line for the new iphone! I think it's hilarious that so many of them are now complaining about how much they suck.

You can get a cheap ipod knock off for 20 or 30 bucks. They wont have any good features or hold a lot of songs, but it's an option for those on a limited budget.

the price of an item is determined by the amount and price of the following:

direct materials (materials used to manufacture)

direct labor (amount of labor (people/machinery) required to manufacture)

overhead costs (any other costs incurred)

the people who work for the company who produces them are also taken into consideration.

and if you use a walkman instead of an ipod does not make you any less than me or anybody else...be proud of what you have...SOME PEOPLE CANT EVEN AFFORD A WALKMAN so consider yourself lucky

music is music regardless if its heard from an old record player or an ipod

i know the ipods are super expensive...so many you can consider saving some money to buy an ipod shuffle...they run for about $90-$120 depending on how many songs it can hold :)

I'm correct there with you. The simplest matters I've performed out of the ones is begin a household, and get a personal pension (by way of paintings). Living in London, it is inconceivable to shop for a automobile. The congestion cost might rob me of £eight an afternoon, the coverage might be too top and petrol charges are emerging at all times. Home inprovements and vacations are out of the query on the second as I am a unmarried mum or dad and each and every penny I have is going into apparel and feeding my children, and retaining a roof over their heads. And a fast remark to Foo. Not each person is broke considering that we are chucking away cash on nights out. I have most often no social existence to talk of. I do not drink alcohol in any respect, I do not cross clubbing, I used to be dropped within the shite by means of my loser ex-husband. Oh, and for the list I do not have any bank cards or loans both, so I'm dwelling simply inside my manner correct now.

They are so expensive now, because the company (Apple) needs to recoup the cost of design and manufacturing the tools needed to produce their product. They will come down in price after they find that people will stop buying them, or competition sets in, trust me. I bought a Panasonic VHS machine when they first came on the market. I paid about $1000 for it, and that was a wholesale price. The only competitor was the Sony Beta-max. The Sony was a far superior product, but when other companies started producing VHS machines, the (VHS) prices dropped considerably and left Sony with a bunch of machines that no one wanted to pay their asking price for. After finding that they couldn't unload the Beta-max machines, Sony finally gave up and started to produce VHS video cassette recorders. You can now buy a new videotape machine for under $30, if you can find one. You can buy a DVD player now for less than $30. If you can talk your kids into remaining patient for a while, they will be able to buy their own. There are plenty of other mp3 players on the market for less than $60. They just use a different file format than Apple, but basically do the same thing. Good luck.

Try getting just a regular mp3 player. They are a lot cheaper. Don't feel bad about it though. I won't fork over the money for an iPod. I'll just use a regular mp3 player.

And stand proud and tall with your Walkman! Tell them you just don't feel like messing with all the downloading of different songs into an iPod.

I don't know??? It shouldn't be that way, but it is. Try buying a MP3 player, not Ipod. They play music and are a lot cheaper. At Target they r like 50 dollars. Ipod just wants its name to be big so they attach a big price with it. The public has given in and made Ipod huge. Good luck!!!!!

Electronics are ALWAYS expensive when they first introduce a unique one!

When digital cameras first came out, they were about $1,200.00~! Now you can buy one for $20.00 on up!

When VCR's first came out, they were $300.00 plus. Now you can buy one for $30.00 on up.

The point I am making is that in a few years you'll be able to buy one pretty cheap. Since they are a big hit, the price will stay pretty high until they're not selling many more at that price because all the "rich" people have one. This is when they begin lowering the prices!

I'm sorry you can't afford one. When my children wanted something expensive like that, we made a deal that I would only buy them one present for Christmas (and it would be the expensive item) rather than getting them a bunch of crappie presents they didn't really want like socks, underwear, clothes, etc.......... and stupid stuff like that. So, talk to your parents and see if they're willing to work something out with you like that!

just save up some money and get a shuffle, it is 80$, or you could go to a pawn shop and get a Nano for only 100$
