I formatted my hp (pavilion ze4900) laptop and i went to download the drivers from hp website. i ran the downloaded application but my sound is still not working.
Please could you give detailed step by step instruction to solving this issue.

Back up all personal data from your PC (copy to CD / DVD / external hard drive) and do a Windows XP "Clean Install" (for instructions go to: (www.theeldergeek.com).
Note: You must use your Recovery disks, if included with your PC, to avoid driver problems, not a store-bought XP. The Recovery disks may be ON the hard drive, so Read The Friendly Manual FIRST. In your case, it's probably too late.
