Do you have the image stretched to fill the screen?

If so then the image has to be scaled from it's original resolution to the desktop resolution.

If it is a low res picture then the pixels are going to be made bigger making it look blocky. Also unless it is an exact fraction of the desktop resolution (i.e. a 640 by 512 picture on a 1280 by 1024 desktop) then some pixels will have to be a different size to fill the screen which will make it look slightly distorted.

If it is a high res picture, then rows and columns of pixels will need to be removed, which can make the image look odd.

Use a picture that is the same resolution as the desktop. If that is a problem, you can crop something that has a higher resolution. Or use photo editing software to scale the image. That will probably do a better job then the Windows OS. Also you can try playing with the filters in a photo editing program to get a better result.

The picture is probably a low resolution. try a higher resolution for your wallpaper. try a google image search and have it find large size pics and use that. Video driver would have nothing to do with it
