I have a 9" Ghost knife, apparently they have a bad reputation of killing other fish that are smaller, but mine has never attacked anything in my tank, I have tetras, algae eaters, and other small fish, he hasn't harmed anyone of them.

I do want to move him to another tank, and I want to add some Jack Dampseys and Ciclids, they are about 2.5". My question is, will 2.5 to 3 inch Jacks attack a 9" Ghost? I don't think he will attack them, he is weird, cuz he is peaceful.........

What are your thoughts?

Odds are he won't bother the Jacks, but before long they will certainly bother him! Your Jacks will grow and get very territorial and when they do they will beat on anything else in the tank, especially a peaceful BGK.

Based on how nonagressive you discribe him, I wouldn't want to take the risk of putting him with more agressive fish. Since he is rather peaceful now, I would assume the more agressive fish would pick on him.... also, if you did put them with the new fish and they did pick on him, they could make him inturn more agressive and when you try to move him back to the tank where he was happy, he may still be on edge and attack your smaller fish. I would leave him where he is as long as things are working out as well as they seem to be. Keep and eye on him though since they usually have a more agressive nature. Hoped this helped and good luck!!

I saw a 20" BGK get "scaled" by an 8" Texas cichlid. The Texas and JD have similar personalities. If your jacks pair up, it will be over for the knifefish. Of course, you would have feeders for the knifefish, so a separate tank of jacks or convicts might be a good idea. You could raise spawn after spawn and your knifefish would love you for it.
