It means find the values of x that make f(x) = 0
In given example :-
f(x) = 2x + 6
f(x) = 0 when x = - 3
The zero of the function occurs when x = - 3.

The zeros of a functions are points for which the function returns the value 0.

For instance, let n be an integer.
Because sin(n*pi)=0 n*pi is a zero of function sin.
