For my husbands birthday I want to paint the inside of his garage. He built it by himself and on the inside used what I think is called masonite. It is really dark brown. The garage needs lightened up and I would like to make it some kind of color theme. He is restoring a 68' Mustang in his garage so I want to make it special. I already bought him a fridge, and tv for it but I want to make it something he can really enjoy. Any ideas from you car guys as what kind of paint I should use on masonite, what color, what kind of theme. I can't afford to paint the floor yet but will someday. He is such a hard worker. He works two jobs and is now in the process of putting on a new roof all by himself. He won't let anyone help and I just feel bad for him. He talks about needing to paint the inside of garage someday so it doesn't seem so dark. I really want to surprise him. Thanks for ideas

Glossy Glossy White or an egg, cream of off white color so that you can see your tools better. White would be the wisest since it will easier to paint over later. And your home would sell quicker with White and easy to find color. White also keeps the Garage cooler in the summer! Remember the Gloss!

Masonite, huh?
You'll need a base paint that will stick to that, then paint.
Ecru is a nice neutral.
Consider the color of your home, and/or his favorite color.

Maybe base your color scheme around his favorite color, or favorite sports team! I always think of the commercial where they painted the landscape for the car, that was cool! Ask at your hardware store about the paint you should use, they are usually pretty helpful! Happy Painting! : )

Keep it simple.
White is always good. Not that white that hurts your eyes, but something brighter than "almond".

When you get ready to do the floor, they make a wonderfull epoxy for that that is a two step process, but well worth the time and money.
"Paint" on floors is a bad idea.

id paint it a light color cuz darker colors make the room seem smaller they also make it hotter inside in the summer so go with white off white or stuff like that

Don't paint it blue - bugs are supposedly more attracted because it feels sky-like
