I believe it to be an addiction and perversion.
That being said the slim possibility remains that it could be genetic. Here is a simple explanation of how.
They would have to be recessive genes. Recessive genes are not dominant if a dominant gene mixes with a recessive gene then the dominant will mostly win out (I am way over simplifying this) recessive genes are not destroyed they can skip generations and show back up.
Compound this with a number of homosexuals who produce children then it makes since that these genes would continue.
One problem with the hypothesis no homosexual gene has ever been identified there is no hard scientific evidence that would support the homosexual gene hypothesis.
As for choice in a way they do chose to engage in perverted activities but I do not believe they mad a conscious decision They are in my opinion exhibiting different forms of mental illness. It is not easy for a homosexual to free themselves of this insidious decease.
There are also known genetic disorder such as color blindness an excellent example of recessive genes
There are numerous deceases and disorders caused by genetic defects if it is ever proven that homosexuality is one of these deceases then the next step would be to find a cure
It could also be possible for a genetic defect to need a co factor such as environmental pollution or mental conditioning

Scientific researchers have shown that being gay is based on biological and genetic factors.
The reason that gay genetic factors persist is explained in the October 2004 scientific research publication that stated scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation.
Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Researchers found extreme differences between women who had gay sons and women who did not.
A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, that the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.

I don't think it's either.
Yes, natural selection would eventually "weed out" the gay gene, but these days more and more people are coming out of the closet.
And I'm bi, and I am 100% certain I did NOT choose to be this way.
I think its more of a chemical/hormonal thing, or an anomolie in your brain, designed to control the population.
After all, we are multiplying so fast that within fifty years it is estimated that we will go from 6 billion to 9 billion.

the two. heavily, there have been women at school who ought to no longer get a bf, so they bored to death in that and desperate, itd be extra relaxing to have somebody, anybody, than be on my own. They in actuality defined it that way too. additionally they noted, they wont get pregnant yet chuffed, they was hoping to no longer get stds on the grounds that the two have been virgins. some years later each and each have been given a boy chum and that became that. They the two reported, in the event that they didnt come across a guy in a definite quantity of time, they may well be chuffed to be with one yet another, and now do no longer dream of woman, via fact they by no ability did interior the 1st place. Many akward human beings, adult males or females in basic terms get too lonely and determine comparable shex is larger than no longer something and are happy with that, no longer lacking what they by no ability had. some are molested, and are harm, puzzled, unhappy, and dont comprehend what happend and why to them, and if an threat of an exquisite person the two shex comes alongside, returned, they might incredibly experience enjoyed, secure and chuffed than scared and on my own. identity say a million/2 are born via genetics. yet, in case you study human beings to any animal species, maximum have comparable shex friends, yet very uncommon whilst in comparison with those that are lady and male of a species. ok so thats my opinion in any case.

I think that depends on what you think is considered as a gay person. If a gay person is heterosexual by nature, but participates in homosexual behavior "just for fun" without any emotional bonds, then he is making a choice. If a gay person is homosexual by nature, and has not only sexual, but emotional attractions to the same gender, without a single attraction to the opposite sex...then he is not making a choice.

I think that gay ppl are born that way....I don't think that anyone in their right mind would wake up one day and say.....I wanna be gay....because of all the turmoil they go through, all the critisism, all the jokes and the things that ppl say, unless a person was wanting to commit societial suicide.....I wonder sometimes like you do, in saying that gays can't reporoduce, but in the same breath, there are regular height ppl who have dwarfs ( little ppl ) why is that? That is because the genetic makeup is a unique and funny thing.

Think about this. If being gay is genetic, then no straight person would be able to have gay sex because they lack the genetic ability to do so. Yet people change preferences all the time.
Gay people are more likely to come from divorced homes raised by their mom than to have any gay members in the family gene pool.

Gay isn't some genetic disease, but I'm not sure if people have a choice either. It's more like fate. You can't deny who you love forever. But even though I'm not sure if they have a choice, most gay people are happy being the way they are.

This is what I believe, right or wrong here it is. I believe God mad me Gay for a reason.
Being Gay, Straight, Trans, Bi isn't a choice.
We are all sexual beings. By extension, each of us has a sexual orientation: an enduring attraction — be it sexual, romantic, emotional or affectional — to another person. Sexual orientation, however, varies from one individual to the next and exists on a continuum that ranges from exclusive homosexuality to exclusive heterosexuality. Between these two poles, there exist various forms of bisexuality.
It's thought sexual orientation is likely the result of complex interactions of a number of factors — genetics, cognitive, environmental, and biological.
Sexual orientation is different from sexual behavior: sexual orientation refers to feelings and to self-concept. People may — or may not — express their sexual orientation in their behaviors.
In most people, yes, and their sexual orientation emerges in early adolescence. What's more, there's also considerable evidence to suggest that genetic and hormonal factors play a key role in shaping a person's sexuality.
