Big money interests would prefer not to have socialized medicine, since the government could negotiate lower prices and cut their profits.
Private HMO's are the ones that most try to cut corners, to give you cheap care so that they can profit.
Folks who are rabidly against socialized medicine use scare tactics to scare you away from it. Whether they realize it or not, they are advocates for big corporations.
When they say, "Look how fast they come to USA to get medical care!" They're only talking about people with money.
Also, those who profit from lawsuits would stand to lose if there were socialized medicine and lawsuits were limited.
Americans seem very misinformed about this issue. Europe and Canada's health care systems have great quality care, and you can still pay a private doctor if you have the $ and don't want to go through the social system.
