great question,that I didnt understand the answer to until I study the solutions. Dobbers, what agreat observe for them. I cooloect marbles & i'm no longer being a great head when I say i've got have been given a good 30 dobbers. No surprize that my dobbers are far greater scuffed than my typical marbles, they do get a battering whilst utilized in a pastime.

Where I lived (Salford) they were called 'dobbers' - or was that all marbles? I'm old and I forget! :-(
I'll stick with 'dobbers'!

I always knew it as an Aggie.
Because a lot of them were made of Agate I believe.

i think it was a boulder, not real sure though. i played like a hundred years ago so my memory is not that good. i believe that is was a boulder, i could be wrong though.

good question, but it makes my head hurt when i think so hard.
