Well, first of all, blind people have kids and need to answer the same questions sighted people get from their kids. Second, some museums have arrangements for the blind to touch (with gloves or cleaned hands) some of the exhibits that the public can't touch and having gotten to the museum, the blind want to know what else is there without having to have a sighted guide talk to them about it, perhaps ignorantly. Knowing it is there, they can contact the museum for a trained individual to answer questions if they are interested.

Unlike the blind, seeing people have much to entertain their mind with because of visual stimulation! The museum was being very kind in providing information in braille for those blind folk who get dragged along with their seeing friends, relatives and caretakers! At least the blind person knows that someone cared enough to add a message in braille to the plaque! No, it doesn't make sense at first and probably humored you a bit. However, if you were blind, I'm sure you'd appreciate every single braille label or sign you found with your fingers! Thank God we aren't blind and depending on others to decide what information we need and where it should be!

They have the brail there to describe the exibit. Now MY question here is why do they have brail on a DRIVE-UP atm teller? Id like an answer to that one.

There is a giant billboard on the 101 here for the Institute of the Blind, I used to trip on that too. At first it made me look around for blind people driving near me. Not trying to be funny, b/c it's really sad when I think we take this kind of interaction for granted.
Maybe they go to check out the sculpture. Degas went blind at the end of his career, that's so sad.

Now that I think about it ours is like that too. Very good question. Why the hell is that like that? That would be like building bathrooms for people, but never giving them access.

the blind "read" the braille with their fingertips.
