This depends on the laws of your country. In America, most jobs are at will, which means that the employee can quit or the employer can fire the employee at any time. The exception is jobs with a contract (including union jobs), where firing someone before the contract is over is a breach of contract and illegal.

For at will jobs, the employer can fire you for any reason. At a large company, your supervisor would probably have to consult with upper management before firing you. I suppose they could conspire by making up stories of why you should be fired. If you work for a small business, where the supervisor is also the employer, they don't have to talk to anyone else to fire you.

Keep in mind that if you are fired without reasonable cause you can get unemployment benefits, which is why most employers won't fire someone unless it is absolutely necessary.

Also, other countries vary. Many European countries have laws that make it virtually impossible to fire anyone.

I think that if a boss wants you out he can do alot of things under the table.I had a boss once that did everything he could to intimidate to the point of people walking off their jobs. Nothing you did was good enough and he was only friendly to the workers who were brown nosers with social problems. He would give you a job list for the day that included you doing the work of two people along with customer service and would always threaten to let you go if things did not improve.Many supervisors can and do find ways to eliminate workers who take care of their budgets making things so difficult on the employee who has been there for some years ...............so that the person wants to quit and then he can hire someone else to do your job and pay them a lower wage. I had this happen to me with a boss once and watched him get away with everything and the upper management let him get away with this. If it serves their purpose in anyway some supervisors don't care if they take your livelihood right out of your mouth. If it serves a purpose for his own bonus at the end of the year to make himself look good it can happen and often does in the work world. I even saw a co-worker take this boss to court for good reason and the company lawyers got him out of it. The next day at our morning meeting he reminded all of us that we can never win so don't anyone else try it or we would be out of a job!! I kid you not and this was a few years ago. I am out of there now and done with this.

If you are asking if it is possible-Yes.

Interpersonal relations at work can be difficult at times especially if one is at the bottom of that ladder to the top. One should give others room for their feet on the steps of the ladder for if you irritate the feet of one above you, they may squash your fingers and send you falling to your death.

Legaly no,but in reality absolutely, they're only loyalty is to themselves with the company in a high second place I'd gather. Old as time it's self, and always very unfortunate.

i have seen this happen. It should be illegal - it was certainly disgusting.
