The concept of echo is the reflection of sound waves,when the crackers is fired in the sky, there is no object to observe the sound waves hence the wave ripples continously comes back to us thats why "echo".
Same applies when u speak something from the top of a mountain or in a vacuum room.

The concussion echoes off the ground. If you are on a high place, it will not be as loud. If you are in a valley or a low place, it will seem louder because it will be concentrated and reflected toward you.

As fire works goes off it releases energy, the energy compresses and expands the surrounding air releasing echoes just like thunder.

because they usualy shoot off fireworks far away, and it takes a second or two to get to your ears
