when you read the question did you think it was about homosexuality or did you think it was an old way of saying i had satisfied my nicotine addiction?
i ask because this old bloke said it today after having a cig and for a moment it stunned me, i could not believe what he said till i realised what he was on about, then i just laughed.

When I read your question, I thought of someone smoking. Cigarettes used to be called "fags," hence the reference to homosexuality in the statement "I feel gay now I've had a puff." It could also mean I feel "happy" or "satisfied" now that I've had a puff. Either way, it's a play on words.
According to Wikipedia "In British English the term *** (though not ******) most commonly means a cigarette"

The word 'puff':
The silent movie star, Rudolph Valentino was once accused of being a 'powder puff' by another man. In other words, the man believed him to be nothing like his on-screen macho personas ie. The Sheikh, but a homosexual who wore ladie's face powder, applied with a fabric puff. Valentino had to confront this man in a boxing ring to prove otherwise. I can't remember the outcome of the match.
so, for me, 'puff' means a gay man.

Because the slang for a cig in the UK is f--? ( Yahoo would probably censor the word) That's just silly. I rarely wonder about other peoples sexuality, because its none of my business. PS You need to know that some older folks just LOVE to play devil's advocate.Keeps Alzheimer's at bay,don't you know?

I got the gist of it straight away, we used to use those words all the time when I was a kid, now its not PC according to the do gooders and European law, crazy or what.
