In Florida...legally you can not. Florida, along with many other states, have made it illegal to import and sell piranha.

Most of the time a pet shop, but I think Florida is one of those states that outlawed them because when people get tired of them they set them free. Pirahna are warm water fish, so they would survive in the wild. I would research that first if you are having trouble finding pirahna at pet shops there. You would have to go to pet shops that were in another state.

Besides being illegal, Piranhas are very dull fish that need a lot of space. They do best in large groups, but that is when they can become aggressive. They would need a tank of about 100 gallons to keep 3. Don't even bother trying to. They are not a very exciting fish. Oscars, as somebody suggested, also get huge. At 18 inches long, they need 50+ gallons for only one fish, and they will eat any other fish you keep with them. Try getting some small African Cichlids, they are fairly aggressive, and very colorful.

They're illegal in Florida as in most southern states. Youcould try mail order, but technically, the mail order places aren't supposed to ship them to states where they are illegal.
They do it all the time, though, because it is almost impossible for to get caught as long as they don't call them piranhas on the invoices anywhere. Inspectors at the airports don't know what baby piranha's look like, and honestly, unless you know what to look for, most people couldn't tell a baby piranha from a baby pacu or a baby silver dollar.
Your best bet would be to drive north, I think Maryland is the farthest northern state on the east coast where they are legal or you could find an internet place that sells them and call them to talk about your order; if you're persuasive enough, you'll probably get them to sell you piranhas.

You won't be able to find one in Florida. They are so illegal that even the fish wholesalers can't carry them. Don't bother trying to find them here.

It is illegal to bring piranha into the United States (they are NOT native to ANY part of the US).
You would have to know an animal smuggler.

You can get them at exotic fish stores. They're kinda dull looking though. For fierce fish, get African Chiliads (sp?). They come in lots of bright colors and are fun to watch.
