You can always try it out on EBay to see if someone wants it. Otherwise, since Euro the 50 Frances is not worth anything at more.

Best wishes.

There are two types of 50 francs issued in France dated 1977. One is in paper money form and the other is a silver coin. I'll start with the paper money type which is most probably what you have. The 50 francs 1977 note is listed in the world paper money catalog as reference number P-152a(French catalog is number F.67.02), and although it's not a rare note, it isn't cheap either, valued at about US$15 in average circulated condition with clean paper, up to $30 in near mint. In worn and soiled condition the 50 francs is worth in the range of $7. Dealers would pay less to buy from you.

Now if you have the 50 francs 1977 silver coin, coin catalog ref number km#941, then the silver content alone is already US$11. The coin contains 0.8682oz of pure silver in mint condition and sells regularly at just a little over bullion and under $15 each.

Not really old enough to be a collectible. So, it's worth 50 francs. Keep it 30 more years.
