Hiya zntenn,

The wavy lines are usually caused by interference due to electrical "noise". It can happen when the power cords to the monitor and/or computer are near to or touching other power cords that are plugged into a "noisy" circuit. The occasional part is when a device in the same circuit that draws high current is turned on. Appliances such as air conditioners, blenders and garbage disposals can cause this effect. A noisy wall outlet local to the monitor may cause contiguous interference in which case the waves would be there any time the monitor is on.

SOLUTIONS:

*You should be able to clean up the waves by rerouting the monitor cable so it is farther away from any electrical source or appliance cords.
*Try using an extension cord from a wall outlet with less electrical noise, like from the kitchen or the garage circuit. .
*Changing the refresh rate up to 75 Hertz has been known to clean up waves caused by electrical noise.

If this does not work you may want get a line conditioner or a conditioning battery back up for your computer and monitor.

GOOD LUCK!!

It may be that the monitor is not quite set up perfectly.

Make sure that the desktop resolution matches monitor's native resolution.
Open up Notepad, maximize it and fill the screen with H characters. Then hit the auto setup button on the monitor.
