I'm thinking a spray paint, but what kind, and how long to dry? What about the edges so the panels don't get stuck together on the up/down?

your local paint store can give you a prep liquid to use on the door first, then you should be able to spray, occasionally lifting the door a llittle shoud stop the sticking, also, spray really shouldn't be heavy enough to cause sticking

Very hard to get an even coat on a large surface with spray paint, and your index finger will hurt like heck. Better off to use a roller, prime if first, then apply your final color Place some thin cardboard in the cracks between the panels to stop them from getting paint inside
