Honestly, there really is no "one brand is better than the other" with these two. It depends on the series you buy. If you buy Crucial DDR2-800 Performance RAM and Corsair DDR2-533 Value RAM, you'll think Crucial is better. Same thing the other way around. You might also want to consider cheaper brands that are just as good, just not as well-known; for example, Patriot, Buffalo, or G.Skill. The reason there is not much of a difference between the brands is because they all buy their ICs from the same companies. Micron's D9 series is what you will want for high-performance and high-cost, and you might want to stay away from Elpida. You can check your RAM's ICs here:

Some people will avidly tell you one brand is so much better than the other, but these people only want to be able to tell you how much they know about hardware.

Unless my research is wrong, none of those will be compatible with your current mainboard. You can go up to 8GB, but only if it's DDR2. For DDR3, the limit is 4GB. From what I've read, anyway. I think your best bet is to wait 6 months to upgrade mainboard, processor and RAM all at once. And when you do, I would suggest 6-8GB of RAM. But only if your OS is 64-bit. But then, if your OS is 32-bit, you don't need to upgrade anything, all your current hardware should work fine.

i was just looking to upgrade my brother vaio f13qfx/b on these two brands and i found that crucial gives 1.more variant choises with 2.lower prices and 3.in ram category, crucial used less power (1.35 besides 1.5 volts means 10% less power usage).

Both of them will do, just buy whichever capacity rated for your motherboard is cheapest.

Overclocking performance doesn't matter if you're smart enough not to overclock anyway.
