If it is new, that indicates there was nothing before it, and therefore nothing to improve on. If it is improved, it can not possibly be new because you need an existing model to "improve". Just curious here.

Like you say, its just contradictory... Marketing ppl play a lot with our unconscious level and most of the times we dont notice. Sad but true.

Let's say the item in question was Coca Cola in 1930. Coccain would be an additive. They change the formula and remove the coccain, it becomes a "New" product because of the new formula. But the name is the same, so now it is also improved(no more nasty coccain side effects). I hope this helps.

Truth is it can't. What it really means is that our product sucked before but now it isn't quite as bad as it was. Of course for marketing purposes, everybody latches on to the N&I label because it sounds so positive. I also suspect that term get thrown out there when almost no change has been made to the product.

Good point. And how long is the timeframe for something to be called "new and approved"? I've seen products that still say "new and improved" over a year after they supposedly improved them.

Well maybe, but another perspective may be, since they're improving on a product, they are changing the formula,so therefore it is new & improved. Good Luck. 2D

I guess because its an improved version of a product, that would make it new. Its not the same as the old one.

hehe
i think they just modify a little bit of something
example : detergent, original 10 enzymes add 1 more = 11 enzymes so its improved!

because they take an older product and make it so that it has 1 new thing (Thust new) and they make it a small bit better (improved)!

It's a great marketing gimmick...

Ah, the joys of marketing.

Things like this make those in "marketing" the spawn of Satan.

Once upon a time God told someone that we were just that. I think she's changed her mind since then, however.
