i.e. I buy a verizon sim card and find a phone somewhere that happens to be verizon and it just so happens that I like it. Can I put that verizon sim card into the phone and use it as my own?

ANOTHER OPTION: I have a Razr V3m and under MENU>SETTINGS AND TOOLS>SYSTEM>DEVICE INFO>ACTIVE LINE it shows my phone number (checked) and an option that says new line. So technically if I find a phone and go into that type of setting, can I delete the existing phone number and add my phone number instead? Will I be able to use the phone as my own and then get billed fr it as if it was my V3m? Thanx!

First of all Verizon Wireless uses CDMA network, which means all of verizon wireless phones does not uses any sim cards.

The only cell phone carriers Cingular (A T&T), Nextel and T-Mobile uses GSM network, which means all the phones for these cell phone carriers require sim cards on the back of their phone.

So if you found a Cingular cell phone and already have Cingular as your cell phone provider then you can just put your sim card into the phone and it will work. However if you are a Cingular but found a T-Mobile phone then your sim card would not work with the phone that you just found.

The only way a phone would work on any network (Cingular, T-Mobile or Nextel) is if the phone is "unlocked GSM phone". The phone has to be unlocked. Then you can put your sim card and the phone will work. You can find unlock GSM phones online at ebay.com.

Your question about device info. If you delete the existing phone number and put your number, it will do no good. The cell phone signal will registered the correct phone number with the cell phone device.
