You bet it is! Each day we are given the gift of life we are given another opportunity to do something positive for someone! The first conscious morning breath always brings a feeling of thanks to my spirit! Great question! Have a glorious weekend! Annie

It is a good thing he is sweet under saddle for you. It sounds as though he has no respect for you on the ground. When he is naughty on the lead, make him move, move, move! By this I mean make him back, move away from you, lunge, whatever YOU choose for him to do. He does not get to stop until YOU tell him. Watch to see if he is licking his lips and chewing when you ask him to stop. If he is, that is a sign of submission and you have won that battle. Then try to go ahead and do whatever you were trying to do. If he head knocks you or is rude again, repeat the move, move, move. Keep it up until he decides you are the boss. If he gets into your space and pushes you, face him and make him back quite a ways. Each time he tries to do this, repeat. Eventually he should start to figure it out. Be prepared for battle by wearing leather gloves that fit your hands and expect it to take some time. If you get RFD tv, you can see some of what I am trying to tell you to do. Most of the trainers on there use the move your feet principle to make the horse behave better. There are training videos and books/magazines that can help you also. Equus, Horse and Rider are both good. You may want to call a knowledgeable horse person to help you get started. You need to stay safe,so be careful and have someone around. As for the blowing up the belly, I have always found that tightening the cinch a bit then walking a few steps, tightening again, works well. They all have to breathe and walking makes them relax the stomach muscles a bit. So just do it gradually. Itis impossible to explain everything fully to you here, but I sincerely hope it was enough to help you. Best of luck!

As an old pilot friend of mine said, "Any landing that you walk away from is a good landing."

I guess that's one way to look at it. I do miss the good old submarine days, though.

Now, when you put it like that--absolutely! There is a silver lining to every cloud, now, isn't there?
