In theory everybody has a chance. This is why we play the games. Good luck to you guys. If the States don't win i'll be routing for you guys to go as far as possible neighbor.

You know who cares about how they did in 1930. I really don't think those guys are still playing.

Mexico has a chance in 2010 if they continue their development. The World Cup is not in Europe so that gives non-European teams a better chance at winning. There will be droves of European fans as usual, but not as much as Germany 2006.

But it is critical Mexico get into Pot A (the seven top ranked World Cup teams + South Africa). That will increase their chances of winning.

Not sure what you mean by progress: let's look at their world cup performance over the last 25 years:

1982: DNQ
1986: QF (in Mexico, lost to finalsit Germany in PK's)
1990: DNQ
1994: 2R (in USA, lost to 4th place Bulgaria)
1998: 2R (in France, lost to Germany)
2002: 2R (in Korea, lost to USA)
2006: 2R (in Germany, lost to Argentina in ET)

You can measure a certain amount of progress by success in WC's, but I don't see it with Mexico.

Bottom line: Mexico has good teams, seem to get lucky draws in the WC, and underachieve. With their recent loss to USA in the Copa Oro, I see this trend continuing. Beating Brazil's B squad does not make up for losing to USA.

Yeah sure only if Italy, France, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Portugal, Spain, England, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Croatia and a buncha other teams (including US) don't make it there!

i think that you are right Mexico has very good players, especially young ones, and they historically do decent in world cups. in order to win a world cup they are going have to be able to win the "big" games in the quarter and semi final rounds. i think getting there anything can happen.

Yeah and they beat USA in final,,,hahahahahhahaha i feel so funny thought,MEXICO and U.S.A will never win world cup for another 100 years, they always end up quarter-final and period. The world cup champions will always be one of these soccer power house:
1 BRASIL 5
2 ITALY 4
3 GERMANY 3
4 ARGENTINA 2
5 ENGLAND 1
6 FRANCE 1
or maybe one of these :HOLLAND,SPAIN,PORTUGAL ETC ETC

No, Mexico doesn't have good world competition teams. Everyone that run, swim, and jump are already over the border.
