I was wondering if I can use my power adaptor from a Netgear router to charge my motorcycle battery. The specs on the adaptor are 12V @ 1A 12VA - So all the figures are good except I'm unsure if the charger is DC compatable.
At the top of the adaptor it says AC/DC - obviously it works for AC but does this mean it will change DC into AC if necessary but not vice-vera as I need it too?
Thanks

Well, it might make a good trickle charger, but I wouldn't chance it. Go with a Battery Tender - they are cheap, safe, and work great.

It would probably not charge your battery.

Although battery chargers say 12V DC, they actually output a voltage of 12.5V DC or higher -- and although your battery says "12V" on it, it's actually a 12.5V battery. Check Ebay for a "Battery Tender Jr"

No. You have an AC adapter, it isn't a motorcycle battery charger. Don't even try it. You could cause a fire.

NO, the supply isn't built for that and could be a fire hazard. Use a motorcycle battery charger.

Also, the amps (@1A) is so low, you'll charge it till this time next year, and the battery will still be flat!
