Because your taking good care of it lol
if you want it to die just don't ever feed it again.This is happening to my fish to,at first they kept dyinbut now they are living since last year.

It doesn't die for the same reason you don't. It's because someone is taking care of it. Fish live for a long time if given proper care. One koi was reported to live over 200 years. Bettas usually don't live more than 5 years, so I'd say you have a really old one. Tell your Aunt "good job" and leave her fish alone.

6 years a long time for a fish. your aunt is good at taking care of it. it won't be around forever. do you hate it or something?

If they are given the proper care, they can probably live for about 10 years, good luck keeping it alive!
