it a 2004 grand am also what cause the engine light to come on i always get my car service when its it needs a oil change i just hope it ain't nothin serious i even got it check at auto zone free test and they told me that its a hose but what kind of hose plus i just put in a new fuel pump and battery and air filter but i haven't change the fuel filter could that be the problem too?

Could be a number of things. I'd suggest you not get maintenance and repair advice from a parts store, but find a mechanic you trust that can read the trouble codes in your computer and recommend what needs to be done.

It is likely a vacuum hose. With the engine idling check all vacuum line. If it's a large leak you should hear a hissing. Check for signs of rodent droppings [may have chewed through a hose.

could be a number of things.fuel filters are cheap so change it.when they say "hose" they probably are talking about your vacuum lines.inspect them thoroughly.have your "timing" checked.Bad gasoline?put a gas treatment with a full tank of gas.
