To be frank that sounds quite bad. I think your turtle is very sick because healthy turtles usually doesn't foam. I once found an adult turtle in my backyard and took it in. At first the turtle was okay, but than he started to foam in his mouth and sleeps almost the whole day. We took him to a friend of ours who is a vet and she said that the turtle might have ate something not suitable or caught a disease. She suggested that we purchase on of those turtle vitamin pills. We were planning to buy the pills the next day but the turtle past away that night. I would suggest that you go to your local pet store and bring the turtle with you and asked them what you should do. I do know that they sell vitamins for turtles too. They come in a bluish gel that you squirt in the tank. Maybe you could try that and see if your turtle recovers. Good luck! May he get better!

Hi your turtle have a respiratory problem, probably pneumonia, take it to a vet!!! the most common treatment is to inject an antibiotic (gentamicine) in the arm with an small insulin syringe, the dose must be 5 mg per kilogram of the animal. once a day for 6 days (since gentamicine is water soluble you can calculate the correct dose making a division of the substance with inyectable water cause the dose for a small turtle must be very very small an it must be prepared in a little volume of inyectable solution to not harm the tiny arm of the animal) I´m not a vet but i cured my turtle from the same decease a year ago with this treatment based in some articles i found in the web, i recommend you to take your turtle to a vet who knows about reptiles, and show him this text as soon as possible cause this condition is lethal.

water temp is also important (82 - 85F) and a container with less water could help maybe a inch deep of water and you have to separate the healthy animal form the sick one to avoid infection.

You can save it, good luck

He sounds pretty sick. What has his setup been like? They take an awful lot of work and need very special care. Please see www.austinsturtlepage.com or www.anapsid.org for complete care info. Basics are a 10 gallon sized tank for each 1 inch of shell length, a basking area to climb out of the water on, a basking lamp, thermometer to monitor basking temp (digital thermometer a must), a water heater, a water thermometer, a powerful water filter, a UVB bulb which must be within 12 inches of the basking area and changed every 6 months, and change the water very very very often. Feed a variety of foods in a separate tank to help keep things clean. Do not use plants or gravel in the tank. Gravel will cause fatal impactions.

Your turtle has a respiratory infection and needs veterinary treatment.
It may die anyway.
You really need to study up on basic turtle care.

He needs a reptile vet NOW. He has RI, it kills. Just get him to a dr. Keep him warm until then. A dr will give him what he needs. Often they dont make it, but hopefully he will.
