I suggest that you drink a lot of hot fluids, because it's very soothing! Don't forget your water! Also, Nyquil has a good throat spray that can help with the soreness of your throat. I hope you feel better soon! Good luck on your quest!

check to see if your tonsils are enlarged and if they are red and have pus. that could mean step throat.. u'll need antibiotic for that. if tonsils are ok aand back of throat is really red, that's pharingitis and u'll need antibiotics too. if you are having a cold and all the postnasal drip drain through your throat, that can cause a sore throat too and what i suggest is going to a pharmacy near you and buying over the counter something to numb it. just ask someone in the pharmacy.. good luck!

Hot water with honey and lemon
Hot tea with honey and lemon
Gargle with hot salt water
(Those three things will bring some relief and also break up some of the pus that might be on your throat)
Take tylenol.
You need to take a flashlight and go to a mirror and look at the back and sides of your throat. If it has a white coating, chances are you have strep. First thing Monday morning, even if you don't have a fever, you need to go see your doc.(Happened to me in April.)
Feel better soon.

If you can find echinacea throat spray (health food store, maybe) use that. I used to use it all the time and it worked wonders. Unfortunately, I can't find it anymore, but maybe you can. The taste isn't all bad, but it works.
