You should give a gift because you think the person would like it or its something that connect you to that person something with sentiment, no matter the cost...sometimes what a person would like verses what you would like may not cost the same. Don't go dollar to dollar when it comes to gifts you should spend what you are comfortable with.

it isn't the cost of the gift but the thought behind it. the Lady I've been going with for over three years has never, ever bought me a gift although I buy her some. but I still love and continue giving her things -- just to prove I care.

No, not particularly. Depends on who the gift is for/ from and how much thought they put into it because at they en of the day it is the thought that counts.

My personal answer would be, it all depends on what I get the person. I don't judge my gifts on price that much. I think it depends all about the gift and what it means to the person receiving it.

I think you should stay with the gift you already have, don't make a competition of it.

No. If that was the best they can do, it means the world. I'd like others to feel the same if I couldn't afford a lot.
